Kaiju Alpha Beginner Guide: Your First Two Hours
Start with the codes, not the game
This is the one piece of advice that is worth more than everything else on this page combined. At the time of writing there are four codes circulating, and one of them pays 30 million cells and 30 million EXP outright. For scale: Biollante — the kaiju this guide is going to tell you to save for — costs 50,000. Thirty million is six hundred of them.
Codes in this game are short-lived and several of the current ones are named after apologies for bugs, which is not a naming convention that suggests a long shelf life. Go to the codes page, redeem what is live, then come back.
The redemption field is genuinely hard to find, so: press OPTION on the left side of the screen (it is the bottom-most button), scroll to the very bottom of that panel to the field marked ENTER HERE, type the code and press Enter. There is no confirm button. That missing button is why so many people conclude the codes are fake.
What you are actually doing
Pick a kaiju, spawn onto an island, and destroy things. Buildings and other players both pay cells and XP. Cells buy the next kaiju. XP levels the one you are on, and every five levels gives you a skill point.
That is the whole loop. What makes it a progression game rather than a fighting game is the second half: the strongest kaiju are not bought, they are earned through other kaiju. Space Godzilla costs 500,000 cells and requires Heisei Godzilla at level 100, Biollante at 75 and Godzilla Junior at 25. Destoroyah Final Form is worse. The unlock requirements page lays out every chain.
Knowing that early changes what you buy. A kaiju is not just a kaiju; some of them are prerequisites.
The roar rule
Two roars: R while standing still, T while moving.
You cannot attack while roaring. That is the entire mechanic — there is no buff, no debuff, no aggro effect. A roar is a few seconds of being a large, visible, harmless target.
New players roar constantly because roaring is the most fun button in the game, and then lose fights they were winning. Roar on the Forest island where nobody is watching, or roar after you have already won. Full keybinds are on the controls page.
Your first hour: farm buildings, not players
Your starter kaiju has somewhere between 2,400 and 3,500 HP and slow, low-damage attacks. The community wiki’s advice for Godzilla 1954 is to avoid attacking anything larger than yourself, which is a polite way of saying: you are not going to win a fight this hour.
Buildings do not fight back and they pay the same currency. So:
- Tokyo has the densest building field in the game and therefore the highest income per minute. It is also where everyone else is, and you are the smallest thing there.
- Isla De Mara has a real city plus a volcano, and is large enough that the fighting tends to cluster in one area you can simply avoid.
- The Forest has no buildings at all — but its trees pay cells and XP exactly like buildings do, and almost nobody goes there. This is the underrated first-hour island.
Full comparison on the islands page.
Your first purchase: skip the cheap ones
The instinct is to buy the next kaiju you can afford. Resist it. The price ladder runs 1,000 → 2,250 → 3,000 → 5,750 → 6,250 → 9,500, and every one of those is a marginal upgrade on the free starters.
Save to 50,000 and buy Biollante. Not because it is the strongest thing at that price, but because it has 4,900 HP and wide area damage with mild cooldowns — which means it can stand inside a crowd of buildings and players and keep earning instead of dying. The community wiki names it outright as one of the best early-to-mid grinders. Every unlock after this one gets paid for out of Biollante’s income.
The one exception worth 9,500 cells is Jet Jaguar 1973, which is described as extremely fast. If you plan to hunt Monster Zero skulls — a search across islands, not a fight — a fast body is worth more than a strong one.
And join the SULU OPPA group before you spend anything: Showa Ghidorah is free to group members, which makes it the cheapest flier in the game.
Skill points: nothing is permanent
One point every five levels, 20 maximum per kaiju, spent across Charge Regeneration, Vitality, Damage and Speed.
Points can be retracted at any time. There is no build you can permanently ruin, which means the correct approach is to try one and change it, not to research the optimal spread before you spend a single point.
Rough guide: if you are farming, Vitality and Charge Regeneration keep you alive and swinging in a crowd, and staying alive is what income depends on. If you are duelling, Damage. Details on the skill points page.
The mistake that costs the most
Buying a second cheap kaiju while your main is still under its level cap.
Limit Break raises a kaiju’s cap to 200, and it is paid in cells. The power sitting behind that cap is much larger than the power sitting behind another 6,000-cell body. Level-200 showcase videos exist for exactly this reason — the difference is dramatic, and it is invisible to anyone still hopping between cheap kaiju at level 30.
Five things nobody tells you
- Damaging a player pays even if you lose the fight. Income is per hit landed, not per kill, so a fight you are losing is not wasted — it is just less profitable.
- Cheap kaiju level faster. XP requirements scale with the kaiju, deliberately. Your starter hits 50 long before your endgame body does.
- Cell earnings get doubled, usually at weekends. The developers announce it by renaming the Roblox place, so the experience title in your history is the noticeboard. Bank playtime for it.
- Base HP and max HP are different numbers. Update 45 cut Kiryu’s and Godzilla 2000’s base HP while raising their max — they are stronger at cap and more fragile before it. Any stat table showing one unlabelled HP figure is hiding this.
- There are no private servers. The place has VIP server creation switched off, so anything offering you one is not describing this game.
Where to go next
- Codes — redeem before anything else, and check back; they expire fast.
- Unlock requirements — pick a target before your next farming session.
- Cell farming — where the income actually comes from.
- Tier list — what you are saving toward and why.
